From what I've gathered this boss and area are meant to be played at later stages of the game, so I'm wondering if it's viable/possible to fight the boss at Redmane Castle at this point. Fighting them is optional, and they do not affect any ending in the game whatsoever. Defeating the boss will get you the Ruins Greatsword which is a Legendary armament.It's not Blaidd that clears the castle for you. The castle is populated both before AND after the festival. During the festival, the castle is empty because the champions are welcome to kill Radahn, so the soldiers are trained to not fend off tarnished ones. Perfect spot for soft-locking some neat loot.
