As for actual infantry, against infantry, legionnaires are the best. This is a general rule of thumb for all battles. Melee cav should be hunting down other cav and horse archers, all the while horse archers are circling the infantry and completey destroying their formation. In theory, in a realistic battle, you'd still need infantry and archers to hold ground, but this is usually irrelevant in Bannerlord.Archers= Aserai Master Archers or Imperial Palatine Guards. Leaning towards Master Archers since they have quantity and quality in arrows over Palatines, and Palatines just aren't as armoured as they used to be. But Palatines are easier to train. Crossbows= Vlandian Sharpshooters, unless you want more armour in the Imperial Sergeant Crossbows.
