The Uniden Bearcat 880/980 series isn't a radio you can just "peak and tune". They aren't set up for big mods. You CAN adjust modulation, as there are a few guys doing it, but that's about where it ends for mods. There are places that will tune it up.The Uniden Bearcat 980 SSB is not going to yield the same results. In fact, the output on this radio is a bit mediocre. Out of the box you’ll see maybe 5-8 watts AM peak and 10-12 watts SSB peak.
