Go on sandbox and turn "starting population" down to 0.2 or 0.3. More zombies will spawn later on but your first day will be significantly easier. If you do this and also start off in Rosewood or Riverside you can have plenty of time to get yourself established before the full-sized hordes start spawning.Also, spawning is based on areas being unseen for a few days, so after a bit, any areas you frequent regularly should remain relatively clear. Me and my friends recently "finished" a pretty big PZ map project, which is available now for you to enjoy! This is a stand-alone map release. Pictures etc. are on the Steam Workshop page:Rosewood also has the fire department, which gives powerful armor (although it also slows a person down. Probably useful at least for new players though). I'm not sure why you bring up the prison at all. It's outside of the city, and a place you never have to go to. I don't think the police station is a big deal.
